Sneaky Tip #3 - Citrus Peeler

Who likes citrus fruit? Who likes peeling their citrus fruit? And who forgets to bring the little plastic peeler gizmo with them in their lunch bag?

Picture this: I'm sitting at my desk, having just finished my soup and salad and looking for something sweet. Ah ha! The clementine! But, lo, I have trimmed my claws and can no longer peel citrus fruit with my bare hands. I search frantically for some device which will pierce and remove the skin!



Eureka! The staple-removing device that ineffectively removes staples! Imagine my surpise to discover it does a much better job at peeling citrus fruit than removing staples from my work documents.

SWEET!

I mean, TANGY!

Basque Sheepherder Bread

Lately, I have been in the mood for some foods that are a bit unusual. You could say we're tired of the same old thing. I started looking in cookbooks and asking around for ideas. One of my coworkers is in the Basque Library at UNR. She recently posted a link to some Basque recipes on their Facebook page. That got me thinking. I went home and looked through the church fundraiser cookbooks, and asked Grandma Rose for ideas. I found some great stuff, like this bread. This recipe has been passed through the Winnemucca community and shared by a number of people, so I'm not sure who to credit. I made a few small modifications to the recipe. For one, I don't have a gigantic cast iron Dutch Oven, so I cut the recipe in half. Jenny's Pork Schnitzel Recipe

Let me tell you, I have been making this exact schnitzel recipe for years now. Justin and I have taste-tested many iterations to come up with this particular formula. And then one day recently, we went to lunch with Justin's mom to the nearby Olive Garden. Justin ordered their Pork Milanese. We looked at it. We tasted it. We sat there slack-jawed because it was exactly *EXACTLY* (No I'm not exaggerating) the same as I make it. Crazy huh? Usually if I want to recreate a restaurant recipe, I google it on the Internet. So anyone who loves OG's breaded pork cutlet, give this a try. PS Sorry, I have not tried to clone their ravioli that comes with the pork cutlet.
